The Experience.

Your happiness matters.

This work is deeply personal and your happiness with your experience is very important. Being allowed to document this season of your life whether it’s your new baby, your breastfeeding journey, or your annual family session, it’s all a privilege. Because of that I want to be sure we’re all on the same page as far so you can actually enjoy this process.

My Style.

A photographer’s style is what sets them apart from all the rest. It’s so important that you genuinely love my style and my work. I’m a lifestyle photographer meaning there’s minimal posing. That doesn’t mean you’re on your own, though! I guide your into “poses” that ultimately end up giving you portraits that are filled with real love and connection. We do still get a few, “look at me!”, portraits, but generally speaking these are all about documenting the interaction between you and your babies with minimal interference from me.

My editing could be described as dark and moody, but also very rich and warm in color. I love editing on the dark side while also giving you a pop of “life” and color. If you are looking for someone that offers light and airy, I am not the photographer for you. There are many photographers that offer that and I’d be happy to refer you to them!

Think of photography as art. Artists have their style and that’s what they’re known for. Asking them to go outside of that usually doesn’t give you the result you want. You get what I show in my images here and on social media.

Signs I’ll be a Good Fit as Your Newborn and Family Photographer.

• You’re down for adventure and fun with your littles. Whether we’re in your home or in the mountains, play is a key in my work. This is how we keep the kiddos interested in your session. Forcing them to smile, sit still, or do anything “posed” is going to lead to nothing but tears. I’m not in the business of photographing tears, haha. So, be ready to play and have fun!

• You’re patient. As said above, play is key here, but so is allowing your babies to have the space they need to not feel pressured to perform for pictures. It’s very normal for my little clients (ahem, toddlers) to wander off and take a break on their own. That’s perfectly fine and why I allot the time I do for your session! Just like us, sometimes they need time to breathe and then come back. Odds are, once they see us continuing to take pictures, they’ll be coming right back. Kids hate being told what to do so we guide them in a gentle way that leads to a lot less meltdowns. Trust me, I’ve been doing this for a decade. ;)

• You’re okay with showing emotion and love on camera. I don’t mean anything fake, I mean genuine love and connection. These sessions are all about LOVING on your babies, that’s how we get the good stuff. If you aren’t willing to show love on camera, these just aren’t going to be what you see as examples in my work. Love means, laughing, cuddling, kissing, playing with, and just enjoying this session with your babes. If you’re happy and being yourself they’re going to follow suit.

• You’re open to guidance on what to do and what to wear. While my sessions are pretty hands off, I do like to guide you into “poses” that allow me to document that love I was talking about above. Most people love that I do this, but if you’re not into being told what to do, this isn’t for you. I also like to be hands on with what you choose to wear. Clothes play a huge part in what your pictures look like when you get your session gallery back. I prefer for clients to wear neutrals, jewel tones, and warm tones. I am happy to dress you and clients frequently ask for just that! Send me pictures of options and I’ll do the work for you.

  1. Check Out my Work.

It’s very important that you look through my work thoroughly to be sure you love my editing/style and actually want to work with me! You can find most of my work on Instagram.

2. Read About Me

This session is all about YOU, but it’s important you like me, too. Sometimes we just don’t vibe with people and that’s absolutely okay! I think it’s important to know your photographer somewhat before hiring them. I am coming into your personal space and working with your family, so let’s make sure you think we’ll mesh! I’m always open to a phone consult, too, if needed.

3. Book Your Session

You can do this a couple of ways. I offer online scheduling so you can look through my availability and decide what works best for you as far as dates/times go. If you’d prefer to reach out to me directly, you can do that HERE.

Client Love Notes

Lyndsey Arnoldy

“Ashton is wonderful!! I would highly recommend her to anyone and everyone!! Not only does she create beautiful photos of our family session after session, she makes it so much fun and easy to be photographed. We never feel posed or awkward, it’s just us having fun by a lake or exploring the woods and the results are stunning. She is easy to work with, accommodating, and simply amazing!! If you are thinking about booking a session with Ashton, do it!!! You will be so happy you did.”

Chelsea Dana

“Ashton is simply amazing. With the kids and families, photo sessions can often leave you feel like it was chaos but she captures the most intimate moments you never realize are happening. You’ll forever cherish the pictures she takes and book session after session. You won’t regret it!”

Amy Hanson

“Ashton is the kindest, most patient photographer I have worked with. She caught such special moments, even when working with a cranky newborn subject on our first meeting, to a stubborn toddler who refused to smile! Ashton gets those moody, incredible candid snaps, and tolerates our chaos, including an excitable dog. I treasure the tiniest details she captures that I wouldn’t think to savor, but am so grateful to look back on. Thank you Ashton!”

Amanda Amadon

“Hands down the best photographer in the area. Perfectly captures the love and chaos of parenthood with photos that will be cherished for a lifetime.”

Hannah Grawey

“We have used Ashton since our 3 year old was a newborn! We love working with her and we always get gorgeous pictures 🖤🖤”
